Jakson Kurecki is an American men’s artistic gymnast whose results span the Development Program, the U.S. Championships, and international junior competition. His most significant individual achievement came in 2025, when he won the junior men’s 16-year-old all-around and high-bar titles at the U.S. Championships.

Kurecki Advanced Through the Men’s Development Program
Kurecki was born on March 27, 2009, in Charlotte, North Carolina. USA Gymnastics lists Nokomis, Florida, as his hometown and says he began the sport in 2013. He trains with EVO Gymnastics under head coach Grant Brittain, while Jason Furr and Sam Mikulak are named as additional coaches.
His national competition record began developing well before his breakthrough at the U.S. Championships. He won floor exercise in his age and level divisions at the Men’s Development Program National Championships in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Those competitions were part of the Development Program rather than the senior national championship structure. They nevertheless provide a clear chronology of his advancement through the junior system. He placed third in the 2021 all-around before finishing fourth in both 2022 and 2023, alongside several apparatus podiums.
Four National Titles Marked His 2024 Season
The 2024 Men’s Development Program National Championships took place in Daytona Beach, Florida, from May 9 to 12. Kurecki competed in the Junior Elite Level 9 age-15 division and finished first in four categories.
He won the all-around, floor exercise, vault, and high bar. His other results included a tie for third on still rings and a tie for fourth on parallel bars.
The range of those placements made the competition an important point in his junior record. Instead of relying on one strong apparatus, he earned titles across the all-around and three different events. The all-around victory also preceded his 2024 international appearance for the United States.
Pan American Team Gold Added International Experience
Later that month, Kurecki joined the American delegation for the Junior Pan American Championships in Santa Marta, Colombia. The event ran from May 22 to 26, 2024.
The U.S. junior men won the team competition, with Kurecki competing alongside Hasan Aydogdu, Xander Hong, Adam Lakomy and Sasha Bogonosiuk. He also reached the high-bar final and placed seventh.
The result was a team gold, not an individual Pan American title. That distinction is important because his seventh-place high-bar finish was his individual apparatus result at the competition.
After returning from Colombia, Kurecki wrote on his personal Instagram account that he felt grateful and honored to have represented the United States. His short first-hand statement provided some context for what the international assignment meant to him without offering a broader account of his training or long-term plans.
Level 10 Results Prepared Him for the U.S. Championships
Kurecki moved into Junior Elite Level 10 competition in 2025. At the Men’s Development Program National Championships, held from May 8 to 11 in Sandy, Utah, he continued to produce his strongest result on high bar.
He won the event and placed third on parallel bars. His two-day performance put him fourth in the Level 10 age-16 all-around standings.
Some records refer broadly to the competition location as Salt Lake City, while the venue was in Sandy. The location descriptions differ, but the official record lists the placements consistently.
Those results came roughly three months before the U.S. Championships in New Orleans. The Development Program Nationals and U.S. Championships were separate competitions with different divisions and scoring structures.
The 2025 U.S. Championships Produced His Breakthrough
Junior men competed across two sessions at the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships, with titles decided on August 9. Kurecki finished first in the 16-year-old all-around division with a combined total of 155.228.
Hunter Egan placed second with 150.282, while Cooper Gunderson finished third with 149.290. The margin put Kurecki almost five points ahead of the runner-up across the two sessions.
High bar produced his other title. He recorded a combined 28.372 to finish first on that apparatus, extending a run of high-bar success that had already included wins at the 2024 and 2025 Development Program Nationals.
His performance was not limited to those two victories. Kurecki placed second on pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars, third on floor exercise and sixth on vault. He therefore finished inside the top three on five of the six individual apparatus.
The official junior totals included domestic bonuses connected to routine difficulty. His 155.228 should consequently be understood within that competition’s scoring system rather than compared directly with standard international totals.
His National Title Led to Junior Team Selection
USA Gymnastics named Kurecki to the U.S. Junior National Team after the 2025 championships. The selection added national-team status to a season in which he had already won high bar at the Development Program Nationals and the all-around at the main U.S. Championships.
National-team membership and selection for a specific international roster are separate decisions. Although Kurecki joined the broader junior team, he was not named to the American roster for the 2025 Junior World Championships.
By early 2026, he had competed at the Elite Team Cup and received an international assignment for the DTB Pokal.
Team Success Continued During the 2026 Season
Kurecki competed for Region 4 at the Elite Team Cup in Louisville on February 21, 2026. Region 4 won the competition with a combined score of 455.245, finishing nearly five points ahead of Region 3.
The regional team won, while Jason Hao won the individual all-around. Kurecki contributed as one of eight Region 4 gymnasts alongside Hao, Zac Myers, Chane Cumbermack, Jovan Jimeno, Elijah Connor, Zaiden Kyte and London Norris.
His next confirmed international assignment was the DTB Pokal Team Challenge, held in Stuttgart from March 19 to 22. The American junior men finished second with 233.400, behind China’s 238.550 and ahead of Belgium’s 225.000.
Kurecki competed on high bar and scored 12.450. The silver medal was a team result rather than an individual apparatus medal, but it gave him a second documented international team podium following the 2024 Junior Pan American gold.
An ACL Injury Interrupted His 2026 Championships
Kurecki returned to the U.S. Championships in August 2026 as the defending junior 16 all-around champion. Now competing in the junior 17 division, he was injured on vault during the second rotation of Day 1.
Gymnastics Now reported that he appeared to under-rotate his vault and required medical attention after landing. He left the competition and did not return to complete the all-around. The final results record scores only for still rings and vault.
On August 11, Kurecki confirmed directly that he had torn his ACL during the vault. He described the injury as an unexpected trial and said he hoped to learn and grow from the experience while expressing appreciation for the people supporting him.
No surgery, rehabilitation schedule, or return date has been publicly confirmed. USA Gymnastics nevertheless lists him among the Level 10 athletes on its 2026–27 Men’s Junior National Team roster. That listing confirms his place in the program, but it does not indicate when he will be medically ready to compete again.
The 2025 Title Anchors Kurecki’s Junior Gymnastics Record
Kurecki’s record includes achievements at several levels. His early floor titles and four-win performance in 2024 came through the Men’s Development Program, while his 2025 all-around and high-bar victories were earned at the U.S. Championships.
Internationally, he was part of the American teams that won gold at the 2024 Junior Pan American Championships and silver at the 2026 DTB Pokal. Those team results complement, rather than replace, his individual national titles.
The 2025 junior 16 all-around championship remains his leading individual result. His ACL injury interrupted his title attempt the following year, and no return-to-competition date has been announced.
